Knowledge @ Noon – The Future is Female: Women in Farming

Executive Director of Yolo Land Trust, Michele M. Clark, will lead a roundtable discussion with three women in Yolo agriculture.

Michele M. Clark is the Executive Director of Yolo Land Trust, a California nonprofit organization whose mission is to conserve the farmland and ranchland in Yolo County. Yolo Land Trust currently holds over 65 agricultural conservation easements and owns a 633-acre farm along the Sacramento River which is leased to local growers for walnut and row crop production. Michele is a graduate of Class 37 of the California Agricultural Leadership Program.

At this roundtable you will meet 3 women who actively farm in Yolo County: Rebecca Yeung of Joe Yeung Farms, who runs her family’s farm operation; Judith Redmond of Full Belly Farm who started organic farming in the 1980s; and Sherri Wood, a San Franciscan who left the City in 2017 to pursue a passion in farming. Come hear their stories and insights about the role of women in Yolo County agriculture today and for the future. The moderator is Michele Clark, Executive Director of the Yolo Land Trust which works to permanently conserve farmland in Yolo County.
