YoloArts Set to Host 14th Annual Art Farm – An Outdoor Food Farm and Art Celebration

YoloArts is celebrating 14 years of farm visits with the annual Art Farm fundraising event featuring an Art Harvest, silent auction, awards, and music on Saturday, 3 – 6:00 p.m. October 16 outdoors on the grounds of the Gibson House in Woodland.

Artwork inspired by Yolo County farmlands and open spaces  will once again be available for harvest and auction at this year’s special event – including at least 128 works by 93 local and regional artists.

Many of the artworks were created during the 2021 season of farm visits. The year’s crop of farms include: Rominger Farms, Oliver Farms, Hungry Hollow Ranch (Boundary Bend Olives), Citrona Farms, Elkhorn Basin Ranch, Clos Cavanis, Pine Trails Ranch, Capay Canyon Ranch, Grindstone Winery.

The afternoon’s festivities will include announcement of the Farmers Pick Award from the Art Harvest by guest farmer Tobias Barth of Capay Canyon Ranch. DJ Char Ramos will provide the music for the event, and food will feature a taco and salsa bar by Las Brasas Tacos & Salsas, in addition to food tastings from Full Belly Farms, Good Humus Produce,  El Rey Chile Company and Nugget Markets. Wine and beer at the event will be from Capay Valley Vineyards, Elevation Ten, Heringer Estates Family Vineyards, Seka Hills, and Blue Note Brewing Company. Mr. Frank Muller will emcee the Art Harvest.

“It’s exciting to be able to come together again and hold this event for the first time on the grounds of the Gibson house. We are grateful for the continuing community support of the Art and Ag project and the great artwork it has inspired,” said Alison Flory, YoloArts executive director.

Shovel tickets for art harvesting are $250 and provide entrance for two (including food and wine) and the opportunity to harvest an original work of art with a value of at least $250. General admission tickets are $40 per person and include food and wine. The juried silent auction is available for viewing and bidding online at handbid.com and no event ticket is needed for online bidding.  After registering online via handbid.com bidding can immediately begin and will continue until the end of the October 16 event.

At the Art Farm exhibition opening in September, the show’s juror, Natalie Nelson, announced juried awards. Nelson is executive director at the Pence Gallery in Davis. The 2021 juried awards are: Cream of the Crop: “Signs and Silos” photograph by Donald Satterlee; and the Plein Air Award: “Backroad Beauty” oil on canvas, by Velma Davidson. These artworks are two of the thirty-five artworks included in the juried silent auction.
