Yolo County’s exhibit at the 2017 California State Fair was awarded a gold ribbon Friday, opening day of the fair, as well as first place in the “Best Craftsmanship” category.
With this year’s counties exhibit theme, “Memories in the Making,” Yolo County exhibit volunteers were able to highlight both unusual and historical attractions with an educational element, exciting outdoor rural adventures, high-quality products and vibrant produce from Yolo County farmers.
This year’s display was made possible thanks to the donations from Bogle Vineyards, Cache Creek Casino Resort, California Agricultural Museum, Carvalho Family Wine, Chamberlain Farms, Clarksburg Wine Company, Cobram Estate Olive Oil, Davis Farmers Market, Frate Sole Olive Oil and Heringer Estates.
Other major donors were Jones Visual Arts Group, Mariani Nuts, Matchbook Winery, Redwood Barn Nursery, Riverdog Farm, Seka Hills Olive Oil, Velocity Island Park, West Sacramento, Yocha Dehe Golf Club at Cache Creek Casino Resort, YoloArts and the Yolo County Visitors Bureau.
“We are honored to be recognized once again by the California State Fair,” said Duane Chamberlain, chairman of the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. “Yolo County has a rich agriculture history that we have worked so hard to preserve and share with others through our crops and products.
“We are deeply committed to agriculture in Yolo County and are committed to continue preserving our agricultural lands so that our bounty can be shared by all in our region, state and the world.”
