The Artery presents Fur & Feathers/ Heaven & Earth, a husband and wife exhibit that features Paula Bellacera’s animal sculptures and Joseph Bellacera’s abstract paintings.

With a background as a painter, print maker, and photographer, Paula Wenzl Bellacera now sculpts charming ceramic animals and birds, each with a distinct personality. A barn owl is caught in flight. A bunny looks up with a quizzical expression, and a red fox stretches as if relaxing in a forest clearing. These are a few of her delightful creations.

Joseph’s abstract paintings capture the spirit of a scene and the way luminosity and space project a sense of infinity. He captures the warmth, solidity and texture of the earth as it contrasts with the ethereal heavens. As Joseph states, “It is my intention that these combinations provide an opportunity to renew the mystery and awe of discovery.”

The Bellaceras’ combined perspectives are defined in their title: “Fur and Feathers, Heaven and Earth”. Meet the artists on Friday, March 17, at 7 pm when they will chat about their creations and their inspiration.

The reception for “Fur & Feathers/Heaven & Earth” coincides with the Davis Second Friday ArtAbout: 7 to 9 pm Friday, March 10 at The Artery, 207 G St., Davis, California.
The Artery is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday Sunday: noon to 5 p.m. Friday evening until 9 p.m. For more information, call 530-758-8330, e-mail artery@att.net or visit www.theartery.net
