(Woodland, CA) – Yolo County invites the community to participate in a facilitated public meeting on Thursday, March 22 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Woodland Community and Senior Center, in Banquet Room #1, located at 2001 East St. Woodland, CA 95776. The purpose of the meeting is to gather community input to inform future cultural programming and community events for the Gibson House property and historical collection.

On December 12, 2017, the Yolo County Board of Supervisors directed staff to create an implementation plan for a new operational model for the Gibson House property and historical collection. Under this model the property would be operated as a cultural and historic center for the Yolo County community, by the non-profit YoloArts, and the historical collection would be shared in multiple changing exhibits at the both Gibson House and beyond. Through this plan the county seeks to strengthen the preservation and visibility of the collection, maintain and enhance the educational programs, and increase community participation at the Gibson House.

For this reason, the county is seeking community feedback at the meeting on March 22 to assist in the development of the draft implementation plan. A facilitated dialogue with attendees will occur to hear both the interests and concerns of the community moving forward. During the meeting the public will also be provided with a brief background on the operational model and county goals for the future of the Gibson House and historical collection.

Information gathered from the meeting will help to inform the implementation plan, which will be brought before the Board of Supervisors for review in the coming months.
