Found Objects at Gallery 625 in April

“Found Objects” will open Friday, April 6 at YoloArts’ Gallery 625 in Woodland. This group exhibition features the photography of Juliet Haas, Manny Melliza, Tim Messick, Michael Radin, David L. Robertson, and Farrell Scott.

YoloArts is participating in Viewpoint Photographic Art Center’s region-wide celebration of photographic art “Photography Month Sacramento” by curating this exhibition at Gallery 625.
The artists featured in “Found Objects” are members of a critique group that has been meeting monthly in Woodland and Sacramento since 2017. The group goes by the name “PHOTO Sacto,” and was formed “to create a space for photographers to share their expertise and passion for the fine art of image making and to motivate the practice of creating new work” according to a group statement prepared by the artists.

“The photographers in this exhibition share a common desire to tell a story and to find beauty and the unexpected in the everyday imagery of our lives,” said Janice Purnell, YoloArts associate director and the exhibition’s curator. “Gallery 625 is pleased to be a part of Viewpoint’s Photography Month and present this unique exhibit to the Yolo community.”

This group of artists desired to celebrate the one-year anniversary of “PHOTO Sacto” with an exhibition coinciding with “Photography Month Sacramento” and running April 6-27 at Gallery 625.

A meet the artist reception will be held on Friday April 6, 5:30 – 8 p.m. during the downtown Woodland First Friday Art Walk. YoloArts’ board member, Debra Gonella, will host the reception. Mark Oi will provide live music, playing acoustic jazz guitar.

Gallery 625 is located at 625 Court Street in Woodland, in Yolo County’s Erwin Meier Administration building and is open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday, and by appointment. For more information contact YoloArts at 530-309-6464.
