YoloArts will be hosting Traditional Techniques: Contemporary Prints, featuring artwork from members of the California Society of Printmakers and TANA (Taller Arte del Nuevo Amanecer). The exhibition runs May 16 – August 15 at the newly opened Barn Gallery located at The Gibson House and Property, 512 Gibson Road in Woodland.
The exhibition showcases the process of hand-pulled printmaking using traditional techniques such as woodcut, etching, engraving, intaglio, lithography, mezzotint, and screen printing. This exhibit highlights a cross-section of work by members of the California Society of Printmakers and TANA (Taller Arte del Nuevo Amanecer) who are using these methods to explore contemporary themes.
“We are excited to bring these two printmaking organizations together for our first exhibition. That’s what the Barn Gallery is all about – providing a new space in Yolo County for artistic partnerships and creativity,” said Janice Purnell, YoloArts associate director and the show’s curator.
