Yolo Community Band, led by director Bobby Rogers, will present a family-oriented concert, “Timeless Classics”, on Saturday June 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Pioneer High School Theater, 1400 Pioneer Ave. in Woodland. The concert will feature popular audience favorites from traditional concert band literature including “Second Suite in F”, “Four Scottish Dances”, “Italian in Algiers”, “Festive Overture”, and “An American in Paris”. A newer composition by rising star Rossano Galante, “God’s Country”, will round out the program. Admission is $5 per person or $10 per family (tickets available at the door) and plenty of free parking is available.
The 70 member Yolo Community Band includes amateur and retired professional musicians from communities throughout Yolo County and beyond, dedicated to the idea that music performance doesn’t end when you graduate from school. The band will be touring Italy to perform with local Italian community bands in June 2020. New members are always welcome to join the band and the tour to Italy. For more information contact Bobby Rogers, the Yolo Community Band director and chair of the music department at Pioneer High School, at Robert.Rogers@wjusd.org .
