YoloArts and Myrtle Press are teaming up to offer a two session printmaking workshop in Woodland and Sacramento. Participants will explore printmaking by learning to make a relief print. The workshops coincide with YoloArts’ current exhibition, Traditional Techniques: Contemporary Prints, at the newly opened Barn Gallery located at The Gibson House & Property, 512 Gibson Road in Woodland.
Workshop participants will carve a block and make a small edition of prints and greeting cards. Session 1 will be held August 7, 9 a.m.-noon at the Barn Gallery in Woodland, and Session 2 will be August 10, 9 a.m.-noon at Myrtle Press, a community printmaking facility, located at 625 S Street in Sacramento. Ages 12 and older are welcome to participate.
The workshops will be taught by Myrtle Press printmakers Dixie Laws and Jess Gaines. Class fees are $80 (YoloArts members pay $70) for both sessions and can be paid on-line with class registration at yoloarts.org. Fees include all needed supplies. The class is limited to 15 students.
The Barn Gallery is a YoloArts’ exhibition space and is located at the Gibson House & Property. Barn Gallery exhibitions will feature a diverse and inclusive representation of emerging and established artists.
