This August, we went to Turkovich Family Farm & Winery in Winters. Their farm on Buckeye Rd grows wine grapes and has an orchard of prune trees, with stunning view of the hills. 45 Artists joined us out at Turkovich Family Wines in Winters last month. Thanks to an early harvest season, it was a bustling scene. Many thanks to Luci and Chris for welcoming us onto your gorgeous property!
Our farm hosts were Luciana and Chris Turkovich. Luciana was born and raised in Argentina’s famous wine region, Mendoza. She has a rich history of wine in her family. Luciana graduated in 2010 in Food Science with a specialization in Wine, Wine Microbiology and Chemistry from the oldest enological university in all of the Americas, the University of Don Bosco in Mendoza, Argentina. Chris is the middle boy in the Turkovich family. He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and holds a degree in Wine & Viticulture.
Both worked at prestigious wineries worldwide before opening Turkovich wines here in Yolo County. Currently, Luciana is the head winemaker for Turkovich Family Wines where she focuses on crafting the best wines possible in Winters’ unique terroir. Chris’ responsibilities include working on the Button & Turkovich Ranch as a field supervisor and vineyard manager as well as making wine alongside his wife for Turkovich Family Wines.
