From surreal to divine and horror to play, the students at Woodland Community College are displaying a state of the arts showcase that celebrates the zeitgeist of styles and traditional visual media being explored by local artists. YoloArts is pleased to collaborate with Woodland Community College Professor of Fine Art, Manuel Fernando Rios, to present this student showcase for the 4th consecutive year.
Gallery 625 will hold an opening reception for the Woodland Community College Student Showcase from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, coinciding with the Woodland First Friday event. There will be live music provided by Harold Sexton, as well as light refreshments. Awards sponsored by YoloArts will be announced at 6:30 p.m.
Woodland Community College‘s art department was revived in 2020 with the hiring of Rios, the college’s first full time art professor in over a decade which has resulted in rapid growth of the department. Students have responded by enrolling in art classes and creating unique and thrilling artwork. Beyond technical artistic growth, Rios is dedicated to preparing students to build portfolios and exhibit their work.
This exhibition features exceptional work in acrylic paint, graphite, watercolor, mixed media, and colored pencil that will be on view at Gallery 625 from May 1 through August 18, 2026. Regular open hours of Gallery 625 are Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Featured Artists include recent Woodland Community College Art students.
