Two exhibitions are opening with a property wide reception on Thursday, June 11, 2026 5:30 - 8:00pm at The Barn Gallery and The Gibson House.
This property wide, joint Summer 2026 exhibition will feature explorations of all things glass. These concurrent exhibitions explore historic glass at the Gibson House and contemporary glass art from the West Coast at The Barn Gallery. We invite you to explore the different ways glass has impacted our society and culture from the mid 19th century through to the present day.
Crystalline Disruption, at The Barn Gallery, looks at contemporary glass art works by nine artists that use glass as a material in their artwork. Art includes fused glass, stained glass, kiln cast glass, blown glass, mixed media glass installations, and more. Featured Artists include Ann Kalb, Catherine Van Aken, Celeste Budd, Isaac Carman, Katie DelaVaughn, Mark Abildgaard, Mickey Abbey, Natalie Sakurai, and Rachel Escoe. Come see an array of West Coast glass creative expressions. This exhibition is sponsored by Yolo Federal Credit Union.
The Barn Gallery is committed to supporting the expansion of vibrant cultural and fine arts programming. YoloArts' The Barn Gallery features a diverse and inclusive representation of emerging and established artists. YoloArts is an independent non-profit and is dedicated to sustaining, strengthening, and advancing its creative community. Designated by the County as the official local arts agency, YoloArts is our community's leader and direct provider for Arts and Arts Education.
Glass from the Past, at the Gibson House, explores how man-made glass has been used in communities and households for thousands of years. Prior to the mid-19th century, glass making was difficult, expensive, and a highly secretive process in which techniques were closely guarded. By the 19th century, glass was used in all parts of the home. Explore the different ways glass was colored, shaped, and used in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and learn more about the factors that impacted its production.
The Gibson House is home to the Yolo County Historical Collection, which comprises more than 11,000 objects which date from the 1830s to the 1930s. The collection includes textiles, agricultural equipment, paintings, archival materials, ephemera, photographs, archaeological items, tools, ceramics, household items, furniture, and personal items. This collection illustrates what life was like for early Yolo County residents.
