Karen Theisen

My work is about the intersection of nature and technology. The synthetic and plastic hot glue acts as a counter-foil to the natural objects and forms that are incorporated into the sculpture. Though the beauty of nature is a theme running through my work, it is at the same time subverted by its juxtaposition with the manmade world. Though the material that holds the pieces together is literally a glue, the form itself comes directly from nature.
